MEATPACKING DISTRICT — A pair of young men beat and robbed a 63-year-old man on Little West 12th Street last week, police said.

The incident started when Conor O'Dwyer and Denis Kelleher, both 21, bumped into the victim, who was hailing a taxi near the corner of Little West 12th Street and Washington Street, at about 12:45 a.m. on July 24, police said.

Police said the suspects then punched the victim in the face multiple times and threw him to the pavement, cutting open the back of his head.

O'Dwyer and Kelleher rifled through the man’s pockets and stole $200 in cash before fleeing, police said.

The victim's injury had to be treated with staples and glue, police said. It was not immediately clear where he was treated or what precipitated the attack.

Both of the men were charged with felony robbery.

The pair carried out the attack with two others, but it was not clear whether they were charged with a crime in connection to the incident, according to the criminal complaint.

Attorneys for the suspects did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

O'Dwyer and Kelleher were born in Ireland and are not U.S. citizens, though they gave police addresses in New York. They were forced to surrender their passports as a condition of bail, which was set at $25,000. Both posted bond on July 27.

They're due back in court on Aug. 13.
