NEW SPRINGVILLE — A man ditched 12 bags of cocaine as he tried to flee from a traffic stop, prosecutors said.

Police said they saw Arthur Krumrey, 43, drive his Infiniti into oncoming traffic near Richmond Hill Road and Rockne Street on Saturday at about 6:45 p.m.

When they stopped Krumrey, the officer noticed a lit marijuana cigarette in his center console. Krumrey ran out of the car and tried to flee, prosecutors said.

Krumrey hopped fences and ran through several back yards trying to escape police, and ditched 12 bags of cocaine as he ran, prosecutors said.

Police caught up to Krumrey in front of 30 Northport Lane and arrested him, prosecutors said.

Krumrey was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, criminal possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of marijuana at his arraignment on Sunday, the District Attorney's office said.

His bail was set at $6,000 and he's due back in court on Friday, according to online court records.

Krumrey's lawyer did not respond to a request for comment.
