HAMILTON HEIGHTS — After a two-month search, Harlem School of the Arts has found a new president, the organization announced Thursday.

Eric Pryor, who previously served as executive director of The Center for Arts Education, will assume the role in August.

“I am very excited to join the team and look forward to working with the board and the staff to guide the organization through the next phase of its illustrious history,” he said.

Pryor has also worked as the executive director of both the Center for Arts and Culture in Bedford-Stuyvesant and the New Jersey State Museum, and as president of the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey.

The position has been vacant sine June, when former president Yvette Campbell relocated her family to the United Arab Emirates.

Under Campbell’s leadership the school’s financial endowment grew to more than $11 million, enrollment increased by 40 percent and HSA received more than $1 million in financial aid and scholarships.

“We are confident that Eric will continue to build on the remarkable growth we have experienced over the past few years and expand access to the highest quality arts training in the city,” said Charles Hamilton, Chairman of the HSA Board of Directors.
