COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY — A pair of men snuck into a Columbia University science department building late at night, roamed in and out of offices and stole a bike that was chained up inside, campus security said.

The suspects were able to enter the university's Pupin Hall by following a person with key card access into the building on July 23 around 11:35 p.m., according to campus security.

Once inside the West 120th Street building, which houses the physics and astronomy departments, the pair was seen on video surveillance going in and out of offices, security said.

The two then broke a cable locking a bike to a handrail in the building and were seen leaving with the bike, security said. Officers did not share specific information regarding the make and model of the bike.

Security footage shows one of the suspects wearing a graphic T-shirt with a pink, yellow and teal pattern, as well as olive-colored cargo pants. The other wore white shorts and a white T-shirt with black writing, security images showed.
