HIGHBRIDGE — Two men lit up a Bronx street Saturday night, firing about eight shots down the street and wounding a man after a brief talk, according to the NYPD.

The 31-year-old victim was in front of 1055 University Ave. in the 44th Precinct on July 25 roughly 1:30 a.m. when his two assailants came up to him and started chatting, police said.

The suspects then began shooting at the man and fled, and the victim was taken to Bronx-Lebanon Hospital in stable condition, where he received treatment for a gunshot wound to his left leg.

Dramatic video of the suspects shows one of them firing multiple shots from his gun.

Police described the suspects as two men, one wearing green shorts and a white tank top and the other wearing blue shorts and a multicolored tank top.

There has been a huge spike in shootings so far this year in the 44th Precinct. As of July 19, the area had seen 31 shooting victims compared to 14 last year, an increase of 121.4 percent.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS. The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com or texting their tips to 274637(CRIMES), then entering TIP577.
