BATTERY PARK CITY — If you haven’t gotten yourself to any — or enough — outdoor movies this summer, here are three more chances to watch some films under the stars this week, for free.
Brookfield Place, with Rooftop Films, are screening movies along the Hudson, at Battery Park City’s Waterside Plaza, each night from July 30 through Aug. 1.
The three-night series kicks off with an evening of short animated films, which doubles as the opening night for the Animation Block Party, a festival of animated movies.
For those interested in the environment, on July 31, documentary "Racing Extinction," a movie that details how half of the world’s species could be on their way to oblivion, is slated to screen. The film was first shown earlier this year at the Sundance Film festival.
And for the final night of the series, influential concert film, "Stop Making Sense," which follows the band Talking Heads during live performances in 1983, will be shown on the big, al fresco screen.
Movies begin at 8:30 p.m., but for those who get there early to grab a seat, there will also be live music, starting at 7:30 p.m.
