LOWER EAST SIDE — An arts “mini-festival” is bringing a month’s worth of free music, dance, theater and movie events to the East River waterfront in August.

Salsa star Humberto “Tito” Nieves, electronic band Caribou and about 10 other musicians, dancers and theatrical acts will perform at East River Park from Aug. 4 to 9 as part of SummerStage’s downtown lineup.

The park is one of eight citywide that will host a six-day “mini-festival” to celebrate SummerStage’s 30th anniversary, the City Parks Foundation said in a statement. The organization plans to put on 140 shows featuring more than 200 artists at 16 parks across the city this year, it said.

“SummerStage is the festival that truly celebrates New York City,” said Ian Noble, the organization’s director of arts and cultural programs in a statement.

“From the iconic to the avant garde, from opera to hip-hop, film to circus, there is no other festival like it. Not only do we select our artists to reflect the nature of each neighborhood, but each park and audience becomes part of the adventure and charm of each and every show.”

The shows begin every evening at 7 p.m., except for Aug. 9 when there will be two shows at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., according to the foundation.
