WEST VILLAGE — A homeless woman attacked a 72-year-old man in the Village on Thursday night, police said.

The man was walking on 14th Street and Seventh Avenue when a 30-year-old woman came up behind him and stabbed him in the neck with a pair of scissors, police said.

The victim was able to speak with police when they arrived, and told them that the woman tried to stab him again before running away.

The man was taken to Bellevue Hospital, according to a spokesman for the NYPD.

Police caught up with the woman and arrested her, the NYPD said, charging her with felony assault in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon.

It was not immediately if she has been arraigned yet.
