BROOKLYN — R train service in Sunset Park and Bay Ridge will shut down during weekday nights for two weeks, the MTA announced.
From Monday to early Friday morning between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., trains will not stop at stations between Bay Ridge-95th Street and 36th Street, the MTA said, as part of its Fastrack program to repair and maintain the subway sytem.
The repairs will take place from July 27 and Aug. 3 onwards for four consecutive weeknights.
Riders are encouraged to take D and N trains, which will run local in the affected areas, or free shuttle buses that will operate between Bay Ridge 95th Street and 59th Street, stopping at 86th Street, 77th Street and Bay Ridge Avenue.
The R train will continue to operate between Forest Hills-71 Avenue in Queens and 36th Street in Brooklyn, in both directions.
The line however will skip Union Street, Fourth Avenue-Ninth Street, Prospect Avenue and 25th Street in both directions during the repairs.
Fastrack is a program that shuts down parts of a subway line to allow workers to perform maintenance jobs over several hours or overnight.
