TOMPKINSVILLE — The NYPD and Acting District Attorney Daniel Master Jr. will host a gun buyback program at Mount Sinai United Christian Church on Saturday.
Any one who turns in a working handgun or assault rifle will be given a $200 prepaid card, or $25 for operable rifles and shotguns, with no questions asked, according to the District Attorney's Office.
Residents are requested to bring guns unloaded in a plastic or paper bag or box and to store them in the trunk if driving to the event.
Payouts for the guns will be given immediately and residents can surrender as many as they wish, but only get paid for three, according to the District Attorney's Office.
The buyback will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m at Mount Sinai United Christian Church, 15 Pike St. Active or retired law enforcement officers, licensed gun dealers and people who hold New York City permits for guns are not eligible to take part.
