SOUTH STREET SEAPORT — Night time is the right time for a market of local food, art and music, according to the Old Seaport Alliance.

The neighborhood association is slated to host a lively night market on July 25, inside Cannon's Walk, a historic building at 207a Front Street, and in outdoor stalls along the charming, cobble stoned block.

Along with $5 bites from local restaurants and bars Nelson Blue and The Hideaway, the market will feature art and crafts from local artisans, live music, wine, beer and several raffles for prizes like boat rides on the East River and dinners at area restaurants. It's slated to run from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

"We're trying to activate and celebrate our historic neighborhood." said Whitney Barrat, executive director of the Alliance, which was formed by local merchants in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. "It's a chance for the neighborhood to come together and support each other, and have a fun night."

The indoor space at Cannon's Walk is now used for longtime Seaport artisanal foods and fresh produce market the Fulton Stall Market — several of their vendors will be on hand for the Night Market, Barrat said.

The event is also a fundraiser for the Alliance, with a $10 suggested donation, which will be used towards future Seaport programming.

This is the organization's second Night Market, and the Alliance is hoping to make it a monthly or possibly bimonthly event, Barrat said.

"We're really proud of the market so far and are looking forward to seeing it grow," Barrat added.
