BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — Police are searching for three suspects who stole a cellphone from a sleeping passenger on the subway.

The 48-year-old victim fell asleep on a Manhattan-bound A train approaching the Rockaway Avenue station at about 4 a.m. on July 1 when three men approached him and swiped a Samsung Galaxy S4 from the front pocket of his backpack, which he had put on the floor, officials said.

The thieves took off at the Nostrand Avenue stop, according to police. No injuries were reported.

Police released surveillance photos of the trio earlier this week.

One suspect is described as a man in his 20s, standing approximately 5-foot-7 and weighing 150 pounds. He was wearing a red shirt, black jeans, white sneakers with black laces and a red baseball cap.

Police described the second as a man in his 20s, standing 5-foot-8, weighing 100 pounds and dressed in a white top, blue shorts, white socks and black sandals.

The third suspect was listed as approximately 21 years old, standing 5-foot-9, weighing 155 pounds and wearing gray shorts, a yellow jacket and white sneakers.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
