BUSHWICK — A Popeyes and 24-hour Dunkin' Donuts are coming to Flushing Avenue.

The two chain stores will soon take over a former car wash at 1052 Flushing Ave., at the corner of Knickerbocker Ave., according to city records and Adris Nasery, who's opening the franchises.

The more than 9,000-square-foot lot with parking is minutes away from places like The Loom, an artsy shopping center with an indie coffee shop, bike shop and yoga place. There are plenty of eateries nearby as well.

And Nasery, whose family owns about a dozen Popeyes or Dunkin' Donuts franchises in the area, saw these business as an opportunity to tap into foot traffic on the avenue, he said.

The family has been in the neighborhood for more than 30 years and have seen the steady stream of people moving into Bushwick and East Williamsburg from Manhattan, he said.

The location at 1052 Flushing Ave. could attract the new Bushwick residents, people coming from the L train stops, and people who are working in area warehouses, Nasery said.

Plus, parking like the one at the car wash lot doesn't come by easy, he said.

"[Bushwick's] changing a lot," he said. "We got that opportunity to put it all together, and hopefully we’ll be successful."

Construction to renovate the former car wash started last week, Nasery said.

Both the Popeyes and the Dunkin' Donuts should be open in a couple of months, he said.
