EAST VILLAGE — Comedy fans can watch more than 40 stand-up comedians – including “Saturday Night Live” star Sasheer Zamata — while noshing on Southern-style biscuits next month.
Empire Biscuit, located at 198 Avenue A, plans to host nine shows over three nights in August, with a lineup that includes comedians who have appeared on TV shows like “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver,” “Last Comic Standing” and “Inside Amy Schumer.”
“The Empire Biscuit Comedy Festival is unique in that it features performances by stand-up comedians who normally perform in theaters and comedy clubs across the country in an intimate biscuit shop,” said Tovah Silbermann, who produced the event with Andrew Tavin and Brandon Scott Wolf, in a statement.
Each ticketholder will receive a complimentary biscuit from the tiny eatery, as well as a free beverage from Empire Biscuit’s menu.
The Empire Biscuit Comedy Festival will take place from Aug. 2 to 4, with shows at 7 p.m., 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. each night. Individual show tickets are $14 online and $16 at the door. Festival passes are also available for $50.
