DONGAN HILLS — An investigation into a burglary at bagel store led police to a stockpile of weapons inside a home, prosecutors said.

On June 3, between 2:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., prosecutors said John Carlo, 34, and Kirk Ruffler, 54, pried open the back door of Dyker Heights Bagel, 1728 Hylan Blvd., and tried to use an axe to chop into the safe.

On July 1, Ruffler was arrested in connection with the break-in and the investigation led back to Carlo, prosecutors said.

When police executed a search warrant issued for Carlo's home, they found a Desert Eagle, a Colt AR15 assault rifle, a .40 caliber Ruger inside the kitchen — all loaded.

They also found a .25 caliber pistol with bullets in the same bag, four brass knuckles, a blackjack, six hatchets, 33 folding knives, 51 knives with handles, six air pistols, five large capacity magazines, a two-sided axe, mace, a ring knife and a glove knife, prosecutors said.

Carlo was not in the home at the time, but Stephanie Rojas, 21, was inside the living room and was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon, prosecutors said.

During the investigation, police also linked Carlo to two other burglaries, from May until July, around Staten Island.

Carlo was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, burglary, unlawful sale, possession or use of an imitation pistol, and possession of ammunition, the Staten Island District Attorney's office said.

His bail was set at $200,000 and he's due back in court on Wednesday, according to online court records. He was also arrested in 2014 and charged with criminal possession of a weapon.

Carlo's lawyer did not respond to a request for comments.
