HELL'S KITCHEN — His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be at the Javits Center on Thursday and Friday as part of his birthday celebration.
On Thursday he teaches two sessions on Gomrim Barpa, or the middle stages of meditation, according to the event's website. Friday will be devoted to the White Tara ceremony, a prayer for long life and empowerment.
Tickets run from $50 to $175. Early entry starts at 7 a.m. The visit will also be livestreamed. The proceeds from the ticket sales are "used to cover the costs of the venue and other expenses related to His Holiness's visit," according to the Dalai Lama's website.
The visit will be marked by a protest from the International Shugden Community, which says the Dalai Lama has forced them to abandon their Shugden Buddhist beliefs and follow his teachings or face exile, according to a press release.
