HELL'S KITCHEN —The corner lot on Ninth Avenue and West 33rd Street — once home to the Cheyenne Diner — will become a seven-story residential building, according to New York YIMBY.

The twelve-unit rental building at 411 Ninth Ave. will also include a ground floor commercial space, according to the report. The developers filed for a permit to build a 7-story mixed use building June 3, Department of Buildings documents show.

The building's developer is James Papaioannou, the CEO of Skylight Diner around the corner, according to YIMBY. Papaioannou bought the property in 2003 and kicked the diner out in 2008 to build on the site, the Daily News reported at the time.

The new building will be called Skylight House, according to YIMBY.

Papaioannou was traveling and could not be reached for comment, according to a staffer at his diner.

The classic Cheyenne Diner was carted off to Alabama, where plans to reopen it stalled, according to AL.com.
