Here Are the Road Closures and Traffic Delays for Fourth of July Weekend

NEW YORK CITY — Motorists should expect traffic delays and street closures on the east side of Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn and Queens for the annual Macy's Fireworks Celebration on the East River this Fourth of July.

There will also be delays and closures Saturday in Manhattan for the Summer Fair on Fulton and in Staten Island for the Travis 4th of July Celebration Parade and the Arielle Mewman/Pepper Martin Foot Race — along with closures on Sunday on the Upper East Side for the Vanderbilt YMCA Lexington Avenue Festival.

The NYPD urges drivers to use public transportation this holiday weekend.

Below is a list of all street closures and traffic delays in the city.

The NYPD anticipates traffic delays Saturday from 3:30 p.m. to midnight for the Macy's Fireworks on the following Manhattan streets:

• FDR Drive between Brooklyn Battery Underpass and East 63rd Street
• South Street between Whitehall Street and Robert F. Wagner Sr. Place
• Water Street between Whitehall Street and Fulton Street
• Pearl Street between Fulton Street and Robert F. Wagner Sr. Place
• Whitehall Street between Water Street and South Street
• Broad Street between Water Street and South Street
• Old Slip between Water Street and South Street
• Robert F. Wagner Sr. Place between Pearl Street and South Street
• Cherry Street between Jackson Street and FDR Drive
• Delancey Street between Lewis Street and FDR Drive
• E. Houston Street between Baruch Place and FDR Drive
• E. 6th and 10th streets between Avenue D and FDR Drive
• 14th Street between Avenue C and Avenue B
• Avenue C between East 16th Street and East 20th Street
• E. 20th, 23rd, 26th and 30th Streets between 1st Avenue and Avenue C
• E. 33rd Street between 1st Avenue and 3rd Avenue
• E. 34th, 37th, 38th, 41st, 42nd, 48th, 49th, 53rd Streets between 2nd Avenue and FDR Drive

In Brooklyn there will be traffic delays on the west side in the area bounded by Atlantic Avenue on the south and Old Fulton Street on the north and on the following streets for the Macy's Fireworks, the NYPD said.

• Hicks Street on the East River on the West (All Inclusive)
• Old Fulton Street between Hicks Street and Prospect Street
• Cadman Plaza West between Prospect Street and Tillary Street
• Front and Water streets between Old Fulton Street and Jay Street

Queens will also see traffic delays and street closures for the Macy's Fireworks in the following areas, according to NYPD.

• Area bounded by 44th Drive on the north, Borden Avenue on the south and Vernon
• Boulevard on the East River on the west
• Center Boulevard between Borden Avenue and 54th Avenue
• 2nd Street between Borden Avenue and Newtown Creek
• Vernon Boulevard between 54th Avenue and Newtown Creek
• 54th Avenue between Center Boulevard and Vernon Boulevard

There will be delays and closures Saturday in Staten Island for the Travis 4th of July Celebration Parade from noon to 3 p.m. and the Arielle Mewman/Pepper Martin Foot Race from 9 to 11 a.m. on the following streets:

• Glen Street between Victory Boulevard and Cannon Avenue
• Cannon Avenue between Glen Street and Victory Boulevard
• Victory Boulevard between Cannon Avenue and Glenn Street
• Clove Road between Martling Avenue and Forest Avenue
• Forest Avenue between Victory Boulevard and Manor Road

Delays and closures are planned Saturday in Manhattan for the Summer Fair on Fulton from noon to 6 p.m. here:

• Fulton Street between Water Street and Gold Street

On Sunday there will be delays on the Upper East Side for the Vanderbilt YMCA Lexington Avenue Festival on the following street: 

• Lexington Avenue between 42nd Street and 53rd Street
