FORT GREENE — Stonehome Wine Bar has shuttered after more than a decade on Lafayette Avenue in Fort Greene.

The quaint wine bar with a seasonal dinner menu closed on Wednesday after husband-and-wife owners Bill Stenejem and Rose Hermann decided to leave the neighborhood and move to the Hudson Valley, they noted in a farewell post on Facebook.

Although the small restaurant was generally filled on any given night, the couple decided "to "start the next chapter in their lives," they said.

"Thank you so much for your support over the last 12 years," Hermann said in a message left on the restaurant's voicemail. "It has been the best years of our lives."

Stonehome Wine Bar opened 12 years ago at 87 Lafayette Ave., offering an award-winning 200-bottle wine list that favored hand-crafted wines, according to the website.

Guests could try a tasting flight of wines by region, including France's Domaine Grand Fers Fleurie from 2011, a Jean-Maurice Raffault Cabernet Franc from 2010 and a Chinon Bosquet du Sanglier Cotes du Rhone from 2009.

The bar also had a full dinner menu that included country-style pork pate, cervena venison loin and salt cod fritters, as well as a cozy backyard garden.
