FAR ROCKAWAY — You can rent a hula hoop, a boogie board and buy Rockaway-themed towels at new beachside shops opening up at two locations on the peninsula this week.

Lola Star Souvenir Boutique will operate two summer stands at Beach 32nd and Beach 60th streets, according to the Parks Department.

The stores open July 1 and will sell beach essentials, including t-shirts, hats, sunglasses, toys and sunblock. You'll also be able to rent beach chairs along with boogie boards and hula hoops.

Lola Star began operating a boardwalk shop at Coney Island in 2000 and was an integral part of the fight to save the historic seaside neighborhood from developers.

She also created the Dreamland Roller Rink in the old Childs Building on the boardwalk from 2008 to 2010 and now hosts roller parties in Prospect Park.

She opened a shop on Beach 116th Street in May, her first outside of Brooklyn

She said she's "thrilled" to bring her mobile beach boutiques to Rockaway's shore, and hopes to expand in the future.

"I'm hoping to have even more locations along Rockaway Beach and possibly even a roller skate rental cart at the rink on 108th once it's restored next year," she said.

"I love being a part of the Rockaway community and I'm excited to be able to have the opportunity to contribute even more Lola Star fabulousness to this amazing neighborhood!"
