Benji is a 20-pound, 2-year-old mixed-breed dog from Puerto Rico.

When a rescuer from the New York City-based Animal Lighthouse Rescue, Julie Sinaw, came to meet him, she sat down on the ground so Benji wouldn't be scared.

And he wasn't, Sinaw said. In fact, he bounded right into her lap and started licking her face.

"And boy is he cute with his scruffy face and curly tail!" Sinaw said. "A one-of-a-kind dog."

Benji has been living in a foster home, where he gets along great with other dogs, kids and adults.

"Benji is just a happy, calm and waggy dog," Sinaw said.

Benji is neutered, up-to-date on his shots, and ready to be adopted.

You can watch Benji in action in the video below.
