GOVERNORS ISLAND — There will be barbecues hosted across the city this Fourth of July weekend, but only one will have cheeseburgers, a killer view of Lower Manhattan — and George Clinton.
For the funkiest way to kick off the holiday, head to Governors Island's "Funk n' Cue," a music and BBQ fest featuring legendary band George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic, on July 3.
Along with Clinton, band Fonky Kong and other musicians will perform at the Governors Club, an outdoor bar with a sandy beach area that sits along the waterfront of the Island.
While you're grooving, you can also get food from the grill, including Mexican corn, burgers, spicy sausage and BBQ pulled pork sandwiches.
General admission tickets are $35, and don't include food. There are also $75 tickets that'll buy you a drink and food platter. VIP tickets, at $125, gives you an all-you-can-eat-and-drink pass, from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Doors open at 4, and music will rev up at 5 p.m.
For more information and to buy tickets, head to the Governors Club website.
