LOWER EAST SIDE — Two thieves stole a man’s cell phone and wallet in broad daylight last week, police said.

A 36-year-old man was lying down on a park bench opposite of 160 Madison St. within the Rutgers Houses complex on June 19 at 8:30 a.m. when one of the thieves took the $150 Samsung Galaxy S3 cell phone he had placed on his chest, police said.

“You know what it is,” the second thief told the victim, according to the NYPD, before the first suspect pulled out a knife. The first suspect told the victim to stand up while his accomplice went into the victim’s front right pants pocket and took his wallet, which contained the victim’s Metrocard and United States green card, police said.

Both thieves fled eastbound and the victim was unharmed, according to the NYPD.

Police said the first suspect was a 6-foot-2 man who weighed about 210 pounds and had brown eyes and black hair worn in a short Caesar cut.

The second suspect was a brown-eyed 5-foot-9 man who weighed about 160 pounds, according to the NYPD.

Both men were about 20 years old, police said.
