MANHATTAN — A man who was under arrest for attempted murder beat up a police officer Tuesday night, escaped and still hadn't been arrested as of Wednesday morning, NYPD officials said.

Tareek Arnold, 23, who has tattoos reading "Troll" and "Militant Soldier," was under arrest for shooting a man four times in Harlem on June 8, a police spokesman said.

He was being escorted by a police officer and a detective from the 32nd Precinct stationhouse, at 250 W. 135th St. near Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard, to Manhattan Central Booking about 7:20 p.m., police said.

The three made it to West 134th Street and Frederick Douglass Boulevard when Arnold knocked the officer to the ground and took off running north, an NYPD spokesman said.

The officer suffered a cut to the knee and was treated and released from St. Luke's Hospital, officials said.

Arnold, who lives in Central Harlem, had not been arrested as of Wednesday morning, police said.

He was last seen wearing gray sneakers, a white T-shirt, gray sweatpants and a gray hoodie, police said.

Arnold has been arrested six times before for weapon possession, selling marijuana and, most recently, in March, for forgery, an NYPD spokesman said.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
