EAST HARLEM — A man carrying a backpack full of prescription pain pills was beat up and robbed by two men in Marcus Garvey Park, police said.

The 37-year-old was reading a newspaper on a park bench near 123rd Street and Madison Avenue at 8:30 a.m. Friday when two men walked up to him, according to the police.

One of the suspects said “Give it all up, make it easier for yourself,” and the other punched him in the face, according to the NYPD.

The two grabbed the victim’s backpack, which had two bottles of methadone, over 100 pills of oxycodone, and a cell phone, police said.
