CLIFTON — Police arrested a man who was involved in a dispute last week that lead to three NYPD officers being shot at, officials said.
Kadeem Lewis, a 25-year-old New Jersey resident, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon on Friday in his Park Hill Avenue home, police said.
On Thursday, three plain-clothes officers responded to a 911 call about a fight between two groups of men at 140 Park Hill Ave., police said.
The groups scattered when police approached them. As police were chasing one group, a man turned toward the officers and fired a shot, police said.
All three officers fired at the man, who fled inside 141 Park Hill Ave., police said. The officers were not injured.
Witnesses told police Lewis had a handgun on him in the lobby of his building, prosecutors said. Officers recovered a .40 caliber gun in the trash compactor at Lewis' building and arrested him, prosecutors said.
Lewis' bail was set at $50,000 and he's due back in court on Tuesday, according to online court records.
His lawyer did not immediately respond to request for comment.
