MANHATTAN — A yellow taxi caught fire on Madison Avenue near East 48th Street temporarily stalling rush hour traffic Tuesday.
The engulfed cab, which had its trunk doors open, sent giant flames with black smoke billowing past office windows overhead.
The FDNY responded to the scene at 5:44 p.m., but the fire had already burned itself out. Firefighters snuffed the last of the flames about 6:23 p.m., officials said.
