LOWER MANHATTAN —  The big new boathouse on TriBeCa's Pier 26 will soon be home to a massive restaurant, launched by the owners of City Winery, an eatery, wine bar and concert venue in nearby Hudson Square.

Called City Vineyard, the new 1,600 square restaurant will have seating for upwards of 350 people — but won't have a concert space, the Wall Street Journal reported. It's expected to open in May 2016.

The restaurant, owned by Michael Dorf, was chosen through an request for proposal process by the Hudson River Park Trust, which operates the pier.

The new restaurant will have outdoor and rooftop dining, and about 70 seats inside. The indoor eatery will run all year long.

The boathouse is one piece of an overhaul of Pier 26. The pier is now also home to free kayaking, and will eventually also have a maritime education center.
