LOWER EAST SIDE — A 78-year-old man was taken to the hospital after his opponent in a dominoes game hit him with a chair in the face and over the head, police said.

Police said the men were playing dominoes on the southeast corner of Gouverneur and Madison streets at around 9:45 p.m. on June 9, when they began to argue about money. The suspect then hit the victim with a chair, causing a visible scrape on his upper right cheek and nose, according to the NYPD.

Police said the attacker also took the 78-year-old’s wallet, which contained a credit card, benefits card and his insurance information.

The victim was taken to New York-Presbyterian Hospital, police said. The relationship between the two men was not immediately known.
