CHELSEA — Police rounded up eight people for smoking weed in public in Chelsea last weekend, according to authorities.
Two of the men were arrested in stairwells of public housing buildings. Four people were arrested at West 16th Street and 8th Avenue, two on Friday night and two on Saturday, near the Fulton Houses. Two others were arrested near West 26th Street and 10th Avenue, next to the Chelsea Houses.
All were taken into custody and charged with criminal possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor.
Of the eight people arrested for possession of marijuana, the youngest was 18 and the oldest 45, the rest in their twenties and thirties. One, a 22-year-old, had an open warrant for robbery.
NYPD did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
