NOHO — Police arrested a man suspected of pushing a transgender woman onto the subway tracks last week, according to the NYPD.

Rolan Reid, a 32-year-old homeless man, was arrested Friday and charged with attempted murder and assault as hate crimes, police said.

On June 1, Reid was behaving “erratically” and approached a 28-year-old transgender woman, police said. He asked, “What are you looking at?” before throwing a plastic bottle at her and shoving her off the platform, according to police.

Police said a group of good Samaritans pulled her up to safety.

Reid had not yet been arraigned as of Monday morning, according to the Manhattan District Attorney’s office.

Officers had taken Reid into custody for questioning the night before after they spotted him on a northbound 6 train, according to the NYPD. Police said he was wearing the same light blue shirt and khaki pants as the man caught on surveillance video attacking the woman.

Reid was also taken to Bellevue Hospital for psychiatric evaluation, police said. He has 28 prior arrests, mostly for transit violations, according to the NYPD.
