GREENWICH VILLAGE — A longtime Greenwich Village deli closed for good on Monday, the deli's manager said.

Manager Celsio Aquino, 54, said the building at 116 University Pl., where University Place Gourmet has stood for years at the southwest corner of 13th Street, was recently sold.

Aquino said the staff at University Place Gourmet received notice from the new owner's lawyers on Saturday night.

It was not immediately possible to reach the new owners.

A family member of the previous owners said that the sale of the building was completed last Monday. The relative did not have information on the new owners other than that they brokered the deal as a limited liability corporation (LLC).

According to city records, the property includes 32 E. 13th St. around the corner, where an iPhone repair shop and a dry cleaners are located.

An employee at Just iPhone Repair said they are closing for good on Saturday because of their new landlord. It was not immediately possible to speak with anyone at Louie Benny Dry Cleaners.
