Bike Stolen from Park Slope Lobby Amid Rise in Similar Thefts, Police Say

PARK SLOPE — A pricey bike was stolen after its owner left it in a building lobby on May 25, according to police.

The theft comes as police from the 78th Precinct warned of a rash of bike thefts involving two-wheelers left in plain view in building lobbies.

The May 25 theft happened about 5 p.m. on Fifth Avenue and Second Street.

The bike's 35-year-old owner stashed the bike — unlocked — in his apartment building's lobby while he unloaded his car, according to the report. The man then went to park his car, and returned to find his bike gone.

The $1,500 Bianchi Impulso bike was outfitted with a $700 Power Tap G3 wireless power meter and a $189 ISM Adamo seat, according to the police report.
