QUEENS — Forest Hills Councilwoman Karen Koslowitz was elected the chair of the Queens City Council delegation Thursday, her office announced.

The chair of the delegation serves as a spokesperson for the group and submits the annual budgetary priorities of the borough to the Speaker of the Council, Koslowitz’s office said.

Koslowitz was elected unanimously.

“I will do my utmost to maximize the effectiveness of my fellow Queens legislators in advocating for the interests of Queens,” said Koslowitz in a statement.

Koslowitz replaced Councilman Mark Weprin who resigned in May to become Gov. Andrew Cuomo's Deputy Secretary of Legislative Affairs.

“Karen has the experience, stature and moxie to be a great delegation chair, and to make sure Queens gets its fair share of resources and input into the issues facing our borough,” Councilman Rory Lancman, who represents Kew Gardens Hills and Jamaica Estates, said in a statement.
