LOWER EAST SIDE — A group of teenagers punched a Chinese food deliveryman, then stole food and cigarettes from him over the weekend, police said.
Police said the 46-year-old victim, who works for the Great Wall Chinese Restaurant, had just finished making a delivery at the Samuel Gompers Houses on May 31 at about 8:10 p.m., when three teenage boys and a teenage girl approached him.
“Give me your money,” one of the boys said to the deliveryman before punching him in the jaw, according to the NYPD. The victim’s jaw was swollen and bleeding, police said, but he refused medical attention.
After attacking the deliveryman, the teenagers then took a pack of Seven Star-brand cigarettes and food worth about $12, police said.
One of the teenage boys was about 5-foot-7 and 170 pounds, according to the NYPD. Police said everyone in the group was about 15 years old.
An employee at the Chinese restaurant said she did not know anything about the incident. A manager did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
