16 Subway Lines to be Hit by Service Changes This Weekend, MTA Says

NEW YORK CITY — It's a great weekend for walking.

And this weekend's subway service changes, which the MTA said will effect 16 lines, will encourage that.

Service on the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, A, C, D, E, F, J, M, N, Q and R lines will be modified. On Saturday, the J and M trains won't be running between Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Here's what you need to know to get around this weekend.

1 Train:

1 trains aren’t running between 96th Street and Van Cortland Park - 242nd Street in either direction starting at 11:30 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. on Monday. You can use the A, C, M3 or M100 or shuttle buses instead.

Southbound 1 trains will run express from 14th Street to Chambers Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday until 5:00 a.m. Monday.

2 Train:

Bronx-bound 2 trains will run express between Franklin Avenue and Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center, starting at 11:45 p.m. Friday until 5:00 a.m.

Brooklyn-bound 2 trains will run express between 14th Street and Chambers Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 6:30 a.m. Sunday and from 11:45 p.m. Sunday to 5:00 a.m. Monday.

3 Train:

Harlem-bound 3 trains will run express in Brooklyn from Franklin Avenue to Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center starting at 6:30 a.m. to midnight on Saturday and Sunday.

3 Trains will skip Rockaway Avenue and Van Siclen Avenue in both directions from now until September.

4 Train:

Northbound 4 trains will run express from Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall to 14th Street-Union Square from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 6:30 a.m. Sunday and from 11:45 p.m. Sunday to 5:00 a.m. Monday.

During those same times, Bronx-bound 4 trains will also run express from Franklin Avenue to Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center.

Until September, all 4 trains will skip Rockaway Avenue and Van Siclen Avenue in either direction and Brooklyn-bound 4 trains will skip 103rd Street.

5 Train:

5 trains will run every 20 minutes from 7 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

6 Train:

Bronx-bound 6 trains will run express from Brooklyn Bridge - City Hall to 14th Street - Union Square starting at 11:45 p.m. Friday until 5:00 a.m. Monday.

Southbound 6 trains will run express from Pelham Bay Park to Parkchester from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 4:00 a.m Monday.

Until September, Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall bound 6 trains will skip 103 Street.

A Train:

A trains aren’t running in either direction between Ozone-Park Lefferts Boulevard and Rockaway Boulevard from 11:45 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday. During that time Brooklyn-bound A trains will skip Rockaway Boulevard and 88th Street. Shuttle buses will run between 80th Street and Lefferts Boulevard.

Brooklyn-bound A trains will run express from 59th Street-Columbus Circle to Canal Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday until 6:30 a.m. Sunday and from 11:45 p.m. Sunday to 5:00 a.m. Monday.

At all times until the fall, Brooklyn-bound A trains will skip Rockaway Boulevard.

C Train:

Brooklyn-bound C trains run express from 59th Street-Columbus Circle to Canal Street from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

D Train:

D trains headed to Coney Island will be rerouted on the N line from 36th Street between 3:45 a.m. and 10 p.m. Sunday.

E Train:

E trains aren’t running in either direction between West 4th Street - Washington Square and the World Trade Center from 11:45 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday.

E trains will also be running along the F line between West 4th Street-Washington Square and 2nd Avenue.

E trains headed towards Jamaica Center will run express from Queens Plaza to Roosevelt Avenue from 12:15 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday and from 12:15 a.m. to 5 a.m. Monday.

Manhattan-bound E trains will run local from Forest Hills-71st Avenue to Queens Plaza from 12:30 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.

F Train:

F trains headed to Jamaica will travel on M line from 47th Street in Manhattan to Roosevelt Avenue from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Brooklyn-bound F trains will run local from Forest Hills-71st Avenue to 21st Street-Queensbridge from 12:30 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.

J Train:

J trains aren’t running between Manhattan and Brooklyn in either direction between the Hewes Street and Essex Street stops Saturday from 5:45 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Shuttle buses will run between Hewes Street and Essex Street. You should consider using A, C or L trains to get between Brooklyn and Manhattan instead.

M Train:

M trains will not run between Manhattan and Brooklyn between Myrtle Avenue and Essex Street stops on Saturday from 5:45 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Use the L train or free shuttle buses instead.

N Train

Astoria bound N trains will run on the D line between Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue to 36th Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Coney Island-bound N trains will run on R line from Canal Street to Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Q Train:

Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue bound Q trains will run express from Prospect Park to Kings Highway from from 11:15 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Coney Island-bound Q trains will run along the R line from Canal Street to DeKalb Avenue between 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

R Train:

R trains will run express in either direction between Queens Plaza and Roosevelt Avenue on Saturday and Sunday from 6:30 a.m.  to midnight.
