WILLIAMSBURG — Drivers and cab riders be warned — traffic between the Williamsburg Bridge and the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway may be slow this weekend as lanes will be shut down for construction, officials said.

Starting Friday night at 10 p.m., the New York State Department of Transportation will close certain lanes on the ramps that connect the Williamsburg Bridge to the BQE, according to a travel alert.

Both the exit ramp on the Williamsburg Bridge toward the eastbound BQE and the entrance ramp on the westbound BQE toward the bridge will be closed at different points this weekend.

The closures are part of a $700,000 roadway improvement project by the DOT, the travel advisory said.

The intermittent lane closures will end at 5 a.m. on Monday, June 1.
