WEST VILLAGE — Are you an art lover and an education enthusiast?
You're in luck: You've got a few hours left to sate both your passions.
P.S. 3, the West Village public elementary school known for its artsy curriculum and artist parents, is raising money by auctioning off works of art by big-name artists such as Kenny Scharf and Jules Feiffer in an online auction.
In an email, the school's PTA, which organized the auction, highlighted the school's dedication "to fostering a creative enviroment with a full spectrum of arts and science classes to inspire and challenge our kids.
"Because we believe in art, artists and art lovers believe in us and donate work for us to auction," the email continued.
Works donated to the auction include a Kenny Scharf lithograph originally made for the 39th Grammy Awards, an illustration by children's book illustrator Jules Feiffer, and a black-and-white portrait of Blondie frontwoman Debbie Harry, snapped — and donated — by the band's co-founder and guitarist, Chris Stein.
"Don't hold off on bidding to get a great deal," the PTA's email advised. "Even if you are outbid, you can't be outshined, because you are supporting the kids today that will create tomorrow."
Check out the works up for bid here. The auction closes at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 29.
