MIDTOWN — The lower level of Grand Central Terminal was closed Friday morning due to reports of a suspicious package, causing train delays, the MTA said.

Police blocked off the lower level of the Metro-North tracks at roughly 8:54 a.m. after reports of the package, a spokeswoman for the MTA said.

The lower level was reopened at approximately 10 a.m. after police cleared the package, the MTA said.

The closure caused 20 to 30 minute delays on the Metro-North's Hudson, Harlem and New Haven lines, the spokeswoman said. Some lines had residual delays of five to 10 minutes after the package was cleared.
