MANHATTAN — A man was found dead under a bed in a Midtown Hilton hotel early Monday with injuries to the back of his head, police said.

The man, who investigators believe to be in his 30s, checked into the Hilton Garden Inn, at 63 W. 35th St., near Sixth Avenue, under a fake name and paid with cash, sources said.

He along with three other men and two women who are believed to be prostitutes then went up to room 2203, sources said.

Sometime around 4 a.m., others on the floor heard a commotion and alerted security who found the man lying under the bed in the now empty hotel room, sources said.

"The ambulance picked up one guy. He was on a stretcher. Someone was pushing on his chest. He had an oxygen tank to his mouth," said cab driver Abdul Salah, 54.

He was pronounced dead at Bellevue Hospital, police said. The city's medical examiner's office will determine his cause of death, police said.

A group of men were spotted fleeing the scene about that same time, sources said.

It was not immediately clear what happened to him.

No one was immediately arrested, police said. Investigators were questioning a woman Monday afternoon, but it was not immediately clear how she was connected to the man's death, sources said.
