BROOKLYN — A father of four was shot in the face and killed on a Bushwick sidewalk Monday evening, police said.

Dennis Sanchez, 39, was in front of 32 Park Street near Beaver Street when he was shot once in the head at about 6:27 p.m., according to police.

"They shot. I ducked and they shot again. We were 5 feet apart," said a friend who was with Sanchez at the time and only gave his first name, Marvin, 19. He would not describe the shooter or speculate about the reason of the motive.

"The bullet was in his eye. Blood was coming from his neck and nose," Marvin said.

Sanchez, who lived on Vanderveer Street in Bushwick, was taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Friends remembered him as loving man who liked to take care of friends and strangers alike.

"He took care of everyone. He was a father to the block. He'd throw barbecues and feed everyone. He'd feed homeless people," Marvin said.

He's survived by three daughters and a son, Marvin said.

There was no immediate information on suspects and the investigation is ongoing, an NYPD spokeswoman said.
