SOUTH STREET SEAPORT — More than a hundred costumed bulldogs are set to walk in a "blue carpet" fundraising event in Peck Slip Plaza on Saturday.

"Strut, Swagger & Slobber," a fundraiser for two bulldog rescue organizations, is bringing local pet businesses together in one place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A local veterinarian will be doing check-ups, and pet spa and pet fashion vendors will also set up booths for the event. The bulldog parade will commence at 1:30 p.m., according to the organizers.

"We want this to be a day of fun for the community and for dog lovers," said Amanda Byron Zink, an organizer of the event, who runs longtime Seaport pet grooming spa, The Salty Paw. "You really don't even need a dog, you can just come out and enjoy the all the cute animals."

Visitors are free to bring their dogs along to the event even if they're not in costume, but they can expect many pets to be "dressed to impress," organizers said.

Festivities will also include a New York City-themed agility course for pets, a kissing booth for pups and a "blue carpet" that owners and their pets can use as a backdrop for photos.

Admission is free, but organizers encourage guests to make a donation. Contributions will benefit the Bumper Bulldog Rescue and the MidAtlantic Bulldog Rescue.

This is the first "Strut, Swagger & Slobber" fundraiser, but organizers said they hope to make it an annual event.

"Our goal is to benefit these dogs and give more people a reason to head down and enjoy the Seaport," said Byron Zink. "We think it'll be a really great day."
