CENTRAL PARK — You can grab a free ice cream cone in Central Park in the coming weeks just as the temperatures start to rise.
Brooklyn artist Spencer Finch will hand out free "sunset"-colored soft serve from a solar- and battery-powered ice-cream truck in Central park, near East 106th Street and Fifth Avenue, beginning Friday afternoon.
The truck will be doing the giveaway every Friday and Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. through June 20.
The event is part of an exhibit called "Drifting in Daylight," which celebrates the Central Park Conservatory's 35th year anniversary, according to organizers.
A spokeswoman for solar energy company NRG, which developed the truck, said the company hopes the project will start a discussion about renewable and clean energy.
