WILLIAMSBURG — A teen who was trying to sell his Jordan sneakers was sprayed in the eyes with chemicals and robbed of the kicks, police said.

The victim, 13, met with a man named Brandon at the Lorimer Street J train stop on Tuesday, April 28 around 7 p.m. to sell him two pairs of Jordan Valentine sneakers, police said.

When the two met up, the suspect asked to see both pairs of sneakers and said, "You getting me tight, you know I'm Crip right?" police said, meaning that the victim was getting him upset and that the man was a gang member.

Once the suspect received both pairs, he gave them to another unknown male, who was about 16 years old, police said.

The suspect then pulled out a chemical spray canister and sprayed the victim in the face and eyes, causing burning and pain, police said.

The unknown 16-year-old then punched the victim in the left side of the face, causing pain and swelling, police said.

The two then fled. The sneakers were valued at $180 per pair, police said.

Brandon was described as 5-foot-6 and 135 pounds. His age was not specified. The 16-year-old boy was about 5-foot-4 and 130 pounds.

Police are investigating the incident.

The car, a silver 2013 Volkswagen, had been in the tow company's yard, police said.
