BROOKLYN — An off-duty NYPD officer died when he was on his motorcycle and slammed into an SUV carrying two 3-year-old boys in Canarsie Monday night, police said.

The 35-year-old biker, whose name was not immediately released, was riding his 2008 Ducati south on Rockaway Parkway about 7 p.m. when he slammed into the passenger's side of a 2015 Kia Sorento.

The SUV's driver, an off-duty NYPD school safety agent, was making a U-turn between Avenue J and Flatlands Avenue, NYPD officials said.

The police officer was launched into the street where medical crews found him unconscious, police said. He was pronounced dead at Brookdale Hospital, police said.

The Kia driver, a 28-year-old woman whose name was not immediately released, was treated for neck and back pain at Kings County Hospital, police said.

The two 3-year-old boys who were sitting in the back seat of the Kia were not injured, officials said. It was not immediately clear how the driver was related to the boys.

The Kia driver was not immediately charged with a crime or ticketed, but police are still investigating, an NYPD spokesman said.

The officer's death came about seven hours after another officer, Brian Moore, died two days after an ex-con shot him in the head.
