BOERUM HILL — The team behind popular live music venues The Bell House and Union Hall are opening a new gastropub on Smith Street, owners said Monday.

The tavern, which has not yet been named, is slated for 191 Smith St. near Warren Street and would be the bar owners' fourth endevour in the borough, along with Floyd in Brooklyn Heights.

The Smith Street space is the former location of Ceol, an Irish pub that closed last year. The spot can hold about 20 tables and 54 seats and also features a small back patio.

Co-owners Jim Carden and Kevin Avanzato presented their application for a full liquor license at Monday night's Community Board 6 permits and licenses committee meeting.

While details of the bar's offerings are still being planned, the menu will feature "designer sandwiches" stacked with locally-cured meats and sausages made in-house, Avanzato said.

Further details of the sandwiches and the menu are still being determined, he added.

But unlike Park Slope's Union Hall and The Bell House in Gowanus, both of which are known for their concerts and shows, the new Smith Street bar will not host live music events, the owners said.

They hope to keep the bar open all week from about noon to 4 a.m., with the kitchen serving food till midnight.

The committee voted to approve the application, which will be reviewed during the full board meeting on May 13.
