LOWER EAST SIDE — A cookie shop that delivers late into the night has taken over Snack Dragon’s Orchard Street location.

The taco joint’s distinctive yellow sign has been taken down and the glass door of the storefront now sports the logo for Insomnia Cookies, a company that has more than 50 locations across the country, according to its website.

Instead of feeding late-night revelers with freshly made tacos, tostadas and carnitas, Insomnia Cookies promises to sell and deliver warm cookies until 3 a.m. everyday, according to its signage. The store’s manager, Juan de la Cruz, declined to comment about the new eatery, but said it would open in two to three weeks.

Snack Dragon first opened in the East Village about ten years ago, before expanding into the Lower East Side and Williamsburg. The original location shuttered last summer when the landlord tripled the taco shack’s rent.

The Williamsburg location is still open.

Owner Josephine Jansen did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
