BOERUM HILL — A 15,000-square-foot Planet Fitness is slated to open on Atlantic Avenue this summer, a company representative said.

The fitness chain plans to open its Boerum Hill location at 239 Atlantic Ave., or 66 Boerum Pl., late July, according to spokeswoman Maura Cheeks.

Membership sign-ups for the new health club are expected to start in August, she added.

Planet Fitness, which has hundreds of gyms across the country, including more than 30 locations in New York, touts itself as a "judgement free" zone for exercise enthusiasts, according to its website

Along with its fitness equipment, the location will also include massage chairs, red light therapy, hydromassage and tanning facilities, Cheeks said.

Other openings and closings in the area include:

Red Hook Lobster Pound officially reopened this week after closing earlier this year for extensive renovations, the eatery said on its Facebook page. The refurbished digs feature an expanded menu, cocktails and a new bathroom for customers, Eater NY and Brooklyn Magazine reported.

Marine Layer, a San Francisco-based clothing store, has opened a new shop at 195 Court St. in Cobble Hill, Pardon Me For Asking reported. The space formerly held fashion boutique Goldy + Mac, which closed earlier this year.
