CHELSEA — A 5,000-square-foot beer emporium with 50 taps and 500 bottles is set to tap its first kegs on Eighth Avenue this spring, a spokeswoman said.

World of Beer, a national chain with 70 locations in 20 states, will open its first New York City location on the corner of West 26th Street in May or early June, a spokeswoman said.

The huge bar will rotate through a selection of local and international craft brews, according to spokeswoman Alyssa Ahern, including those from Bronx Brewery and Gun Hill Brewing Co. in the Bronx, Kelso and Sixpoint in Brooklyn and Singlecut Beersmiths from Queens.

The bar will also house an "infusion tower," Ahern said, which pulls beer through a chamber of flavorings like fruit, herbs, coffee, and extra hops.

It will serve the chain's menu of beer-themed food like Guinness brat sliders, Belgian beer waffles and a Chimay burger.

A tentative opening for the 320 Eighth Ave. location has been set for May 11, but may be pushed back, Ahern said.
