HELL'S KITCHEN — West Siders will soon be able to get their red bean pancakes and octopus puffs in one place.

Mocu-Mocu, a new cafe at 746 Tenth Ave. near West 51st Street, plans to serve takoyaki, balls of batter and octopus, which the shop claims on its website will be "the closest you'll get to having the authentic Japanese takoyaki in New York City."

Special obanyaki, filled pancakes pressed on a waffle-iron-like griddle, will be filled with American "twists" such as custard and apple compote, according to Mocu-Mocu's Facebook page

"Our menu aspires to merge simple comfort food concepts and culinary influence inspired by Western & Japanese cooking traditions," the website says. The menu will also include Japanese pickles, house made soups and salads.

The adjoining shop will sell Japanese padded "nuno zori" slippers and multi-colored tote bags and t-shirts made in Japan. The restaurant is now hiring cooks and shop workers, according to its website.

The owners did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but an employee at the site said this week that they hope to be open for business by June.
